Shattered Dawn - Vote Your Heroine
"Imagine yourself on a rainy night. All you want is to be somewhere else. So you turn on good tunes and suddenly something is happening. Images come to mind, smells fill your nose, a different kind of energy flows through your body. Emotions change and it feels like you could be anywhere, any time, with whom you want." - MvD
The transformative power of music lies in its ability to transcend time and space, making the intangible tangible and the distant near. "Melodyssey" explores this profound phenomenon, where melodies become vessels, carrying us to places we’ve never been and moments we’ve only dreamed of, blurring the lines between memory, imagination, and reality.
Melodyssey — A Journey Beyond Time and Place
This project reflects a unique visual and conceptual aesthetic, where music serves as both the origin and the compass, guiding us to forgotten worlds, unspoken stories, and timeless emotions. Through an innovative blend of dynamic visuals, "Melodyssey" transforms music into a portal, evoking visceral experiences of belonging, longing, and discovery.
The historical resonance of this concept is unmistakable. Just as photography and film have redefined our understanding of memory and reality, music possesses a singular power to situate us anywhere in the vast continuum of history—whether it’s the rhythms of ancient civilizations or the harmonies of personal milestones. "Melodyssey" positions itself within this timeless lineage, connecting modern audiences to the universal, enduring language of music.
A Symphony of Time and Space
"Melodyssey" unveils the hidden magic within music. Instruments reveal their inner secrets, trigger memories that weave through eras, pulling us into imagined pasts, vibrant presents, and expansive futures. Each piece is a kaleidoscope of emotion, inviting audiences to feel the heartbeat of distant lands and the echoes of forgotten times.
With its cinematic depth and timeless vision, "Melodyssey" inspires audiences to see music not just as a soundtrack, but as a journey—one capable of taking us anywhere, any time.
Feel the music. See the places. Relive the moments. Celebration the infinite potential of your mind.
I don’t make the tools I use part of the project description. Only the result matters, but I’m happy to talk about it separately and give a glimpse behind the scenes. The first image was created after reading Harry Potter with my son for the first time. I loved how an entire express was hidden inside an ordinary place and that that train would take you into a distant world where everything is possible.
And all of the sudden I had two ingredients: hidden inside and escape the ordinary.
Now I should have mentioned that, while we were reading Harry Potter, the soundtrack was running in the background for a more immersed experience. And I believe that why music instruments became the driving theme of this project.
I started to experiment with more emotional states which was resulted in calm pictures or very energetic ones. But I also became aware that time and space are not bound by an emotional state. Or in other words, you can trigger certain emotions by letting you imagination take you to far away lands and distant times.
I now had to set limitations to restrict myself from going too broad.
So I sat certain rules that would allow me to create a cohesive collection of images that go well together as one big project. After sometime of experimentation I had created about 400 artworks. I took the ones that spoke most to me to the next step.
I used stable diffusion to change certain elements and variations of each artwork. I then upscaled each image to 4K. The last big step were manual touchups in Photoshop to get the polished results and compositional tweaks that I desired.
Now it was time to mint.
Melodyssey it’s also the first project were I used a custom contract to remain in full control of my art. There was no clear advice on which blockchain or platform would be the best, so I stuck with Manifold and ERC-721 protocols on Ethereum. There’s still much to learn.
I managed to import Melodyssey to my profile on MakersPlace and hope that it will find a lot of people who resonate with the sentiment of calm, escape and infinite possibility, that this project wants to express.
